Filey Lifeboat

by RB

A small lifeboat was stationed at Filey since the early 19th Century but the first recorded rescue was in 1853 . Since then the Filey lifeboat has saved hundreds of lives. In  2003 a local fisherman Michael (Pip) Farline was awarded the prestigious bronze life saving medal for rescuing two tourists who had been trapped by the tide on a sand bar at Reighton.
